My name is Cassie. I am an avid runner. I began running 7 years ago while I was in high school. My best friend at the time was a long distance runner so she decided I should start running too. It turned out that I had natural ability to run and enjoyed it a lot as well. When I began university in 2007, I tried out for the varsity cross country team at McMaster University. I made the team and began running competitively. I was running 6 days a week and 8-21 kilometers each time I ran. I have continued to running since this time and during my master’s program at Michigan State University, I continued competitive running by joining the MSU running club and participating in races with this team.
Today, I run approximately 4-5 days a week, 5-16km each time I run. I still race competitively; I race approximately 5 times a year. In my most recent race I placed 2nd out of 583 women with a time of 19:54 for 5 km. I love running and sharing my love for running. Therefore, this blog will provide fun stories, tips, education and ideas about running, health and fitness. It will also suggest ways to begin running and improve your running ability based on my experience and advice from other competitive runners.
